Over the years, the baseball facilities at Cox High School have been built, and have been improved upon.
We take this opportunity to share with you some of this history. Forever grateful to those individuals, families, sponsors, and community partners who have been integral to the ongoing success of the Cox Falcon Baseball Program!
"The Nest"
Completed in 2008.
A 50' x30' structure of approximately 2000 sq. ft.
Two story structure that sits behind home plate.
The first floor houses our:
Concession Stand & Apparel Storage Room
Weight Room equipped with 4 power racks
Player locker room with lockers and A/V equipment for film review and teaching
Coaches' office
The Second Floor houses our press box.
Coach Ittner: "The Falcon's Nest structure enhances both our game day experience and our player development. This is one of the premier structures for high school baseball in the state of Virginia."
"The Dome"
Completed in 2006.
Sits just beyond Right Field
3200 sq. ft of interior space spanning 80 ft. x 40 ft.
Overhauled in 2019 with artificial turf, two heating units, two indoor mounds, as well as two medicine ball/plyocare walls.
A fully retractable netting system allows for two 70 ft. x 15 ft. batting tunnels.
Coach Ittner: "This structure allows our program to be able to develop our players throughout the entire calendar year."
"The Backstop"
Originally built in 1994 as part of the "New" Tilley Field.
It's construction consisted of chain link fencing and aluminum poles.
Improvements & Renovations began in 2018 on the same footprint as the original.
Improvements included a new brick retaining wall, custom backstop padding, and a beacon athletics suspension netting system.
Wing walls were also added to the dugouts.
Coach Ittner: "The transformation of our backstop at Tilley Field has elevated our facility as one of the premier locations to watch a high school baseball game in our area."
